"Ghost Of Lila Pearl" Music Video by Left Arm Tan

My first job was filling and refilling the ice bin behind the bar at a local tavern at which my mother was a bartender. I was 10 years old. I grew up in a slew of bars that my mother was employed at between my ages of 5 to 18. So I've seen a lot of happenings varying from sad and confusing to just humorous and confusing. Because let's face it - anything that happens in a bar that involves alcohol is always confusing.

And so, anyone else who has spent enough time in a their local pub/tavern/bar/watering hole (depending on your location) will notice some very familiar happenings thrown into this video. I've seen them all in real life, and I think that's why this video is endearing to me

Maybe that says a little bit too much why I am the way I am...

Anyway, enjoy!

- Von

Music Video - "Bring It On" by The Gaslight Anthem

Back in Episode 95 of The Americana Rock Mix, I featued the newest album from The Gaslight Anthem, "American Slang", as one of my top albums of the year. To this day, I still listen to the album at least every couple of weeks. On my show I featured the songs "Stay Lucky" and "Orphans", but I present you with yet another reason you should already own this album:

The music video for "Bring It On" from their newest album and one of my top albums of 2010, "American Slang".

Music Video - "The Usual Suspects" by Ha Ha Tonka

A couple of weeks ago, on Americana Rock Mix: Episode 104 - Throw A Little Twang On It, I played some new tracks by Ha Ha Tonka from their new album "Death Of A Decade". The tracks that I played ("Problem Solver" and "Lonely Fortunes") were chosen because I KNEW that "The Usual Suspects" was going to blow up and I wanted to provide a little variety from this awesome album. I didn't want to do what everyone else was doing.

Well, here's a new treat for you guys. The song that I refused to play has a music video that IS worth playing. If the songs that I played for you guys wasn't enough for you to jump up and go out to purchase "Death Of A Decade" right away, maybe the catchiness of "The Usual Suspects" is. Enjoy.

New Careless Hearts Music Video for "I'd Be A Wreck"

One of the treasures that I recently came across in my never ending endeavor for new music was the latest EP by Careless Hearts, entitled "Three Songs". Of these three songs I featured two of them on last weeks episode of The Americana Rock Mix, which can be found HERE. AND of those two songs, Careless Hearts recently released a video for one of them. Personally, after listening to the EP, I was both happy and disappointed. I was happy that I found some fresh music that was stuck in my head, and disappointed that I didn't have more of it to listen to. I really am interested to see what they're not sharing with me. (Stop being greedy, guys. Heh.) But fortunately for us, they are sharing the visual aspects of the music they have released with the music video for "I'd Be A Wreck". Heidi Spencer New Music Video "While It's Shining"

A rust-covered King Kong and life-sized dinosaurs populate the dreamlike setting of Heidi Spencer & The Rare Birds' new video, "While It's Shining". The song is from the group's Bella Union Debut, 'Under Streetlight Glow' (out 3/29). Watch the Sean Kafer directed video below:. Filmed along the highways of Wisconsin, Spencer's home state, the video exhibits the eccentric collections of M. Schettl Sales in Oshkosh, a purveyor of oddball lawn ornaments and oversized novelty statues. The video also features footage at Forevertron, the world's largest scrap metal sculpture. "While It's Shining" captures the astonishing and often haunting qualities of roadside monuments familiar to those who travel through the Midwest. Spencer herself spent years on the road, living in a total of 12 states (often in her car), before settling down to record "Under Streetlight Glow" in Milwaukee. Heidi Spencer & the Rare Birds will announce their SXSW shows shortly. David Lowery - Music Video for "Deep Oblivion"

I know that my listeners share the same love for David Lowery that I have. It's very obvious considering that two of my highest downloaded episodes are the David Lowery Live Archive episodes that I posted a little while back (found HERE and HERE). So, you can imagine my excitement when I received news that his solo album, The Palace Guards, is coming out on February 1st. You can download the first single, the title track - "The Palace Guards",  for free from his website at DavidLoweryMusic.com . This video is from the second single from the album called "Deep Oblivion". Enjoy.
